In this first episode of WomenAizer, we explore the intersection of artificial intelligence, migration governance, and fundamental rights with Niovi Vavoula. The conversation examines the evolution of EU surveillance law, the EU Court of Justice's role in shaping judicial benchmarks, and the expansion of algorithmic profiling and interoperable IT systems in border management.

We also discuss the newly adopted AI Act, the limits of GDPR, and the challenges of ensuring meaningful remedies for individuals affected by automated decision-making. At the heart of this discussion lies a critical question: how can the European Union reconcile its security objectives with its commitment to fundamental rights in an increasingly digital migration landscape?

Keywords: Migration, Data protection, AI-based border control, Vulnerability, ECJ provisions and case-law evolution.
